Oma Gay (Arrington) Hoodenpyle was born to Claude Caesar and Pearl Lillian (Cobb) Arrington on October 22, 1926 at Walters, OK and departed this life in Oklahoma City, OK on August 16, 2017 at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 25 days.
Oma Gay grew up and attended school at Comanche, OK. She met James Leon Hoodenpyle on a blind date they eventually married on July 12, 1946 at Lawton. They first made their home in Geronimo and then moved to Wichita Falls, TX, in 1953 where they raised their kids. Upon retirement they moved to Duncan, OK, in 1989. She was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church in Duncan. Oma Gay loved to cook and garden, but most of all she loved taking care of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leon on May 15, 1997; her daughter, Lajerra Sue Fife; 4 brothers, Cleo, Calvin, Kenneth and Truett Arrington; and 2 sisters, Lawannah Rash and Nita England.
Survivors include 3 daughters and spouses, Diane Hoodenpyle of Duncan, Lanan and Bob Shelton of Dennison, TX, Debbie and Vincent Rains of Iowa Park, TX; 2 sisters, Hester Jones and husband Lawrence of Duncan, and Norma Adams of Waurika, OK; 10 grandchildren and spouses, Rene and Michael Torrez, Michael Fife, Michelle Fife, Jamie Fife, Shane Shelton, Chris and Karyn Shelton, Bryan and Pam Hoodenpyle, Alexia and Joseph Echols, Shay and Hector Ortiz, Ashley and Ricky Marshall; 17 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
